Last night I saw a movie called CHOCOLAT on the cable TV. It is an American film in 2000 but the story is set in a small French town. The story started like an excellent fantasy, but to my disappointment, it turned into a sweet love romance ... as American films always are. I guess Johnny Depp was too sexual.... Anyway, I enjoyed the film because of the casting.
A woman who was abused by her husband and fled to the heroine's chocolate shop, and became one of her sincere friends, was acted by Lena Olin. As this actress was so-oo impressive, I searched her name on the Internet, and found she acted the part of Sabina in THE UNBEARABLE LIGHTNESS OF BEING in 1988. Oh, this is my favorite movie: It is also American, the story is set in Prague. It is about the love and death of people under the political revolution of Czechoslovakia.
Furthermore, I found out the actress of heroine in CHOCOLAT, Juliette Binoche, also acted the heroine, Tereza, in THE UNBEARABLE LIGHTNESS OF BEING. A-ha! How forgetful I am! Then I understand why I was so fascinated by this sweetest movie. It is good to see my familiar actresses again after 12 years have passed.
